Lets new members look around and read old posts etc to let them see what its all about but they cant post till they are signed up a week....This will cut down on the people who sign up with aliases to abuse escorts (and others) in a thread they created 2 minutes after signing up.
The novelty of trolling will soon reduce if they cant sign up and immediately start a troll thread

(BTW ,I know this is a twist on Samlads initial ask as its not about topics per se)
No, all that would happen is that trolls would create a few profiles in advance for the purpose of trolling in the future. Besides, for the sake of a couple of sad, lonely bastards, we don't want to put genuine people off from contributing to current topics. If I signed up to a forum to join in the debates and I had to wait a week to post anything, I would either forget about the profile or just be instantly put off and wouldn't bother. Besides, a lot of people get horny and look to post in the client requests section for someone that will provide a certain service. I am sure a lot of you don't always plan a punt that far in advance.

    We currently have:

    • General Chat
    • Established Members Lounge (for posters with 269+ post)
    • Sports Bar
    • Competitions
    • Escort Interviews
    • Irish Language Discussions
    • E-I The Soap Opera
Just a quick question, why was the Geek Zone removed, I can understand bring those threads back into general but since it was removed I dont see a fraction of those type threads posted any more, I liked having tv shows and movie discussions threads on here it was a nice break from the usual.
The beauty of the internet is that there is always a 'close' button.

It was seldom used in comparison to the other topics. So is the Irish Language forum, but everyone preached about their human rights of not being able to post in Irish. I am glad you asked this question, because ideally we are looking for some sensible suggestions as to what people want in the General Topics discussion, so if you think that the Geek Zone should be back, add it to a list of what you would like to see.

    Disagree
Again last night as soon as the mods closed their eyes for the night there was a barrage of troll/rant posts about this site/who owns it etc and I see they have had to be removed again.
I couldn't be arsed whether or not those type of posts get airtime until the mods see them....but members who sign up at 10pm and wait till 1am (Mod snooze time) to begin attacking some of the ladies here COULD be cut down drastically if there was a wait time.
Of course they might try to create multiple aliases at the one time like you say if they had to wait a week to use them for posting, but the novelty will soon wear off when they realise that the multiple email addresses they would need to set up (One for each user name I am guessing??) would all have to be replaced as each username was banned for mailicous posting.

Anyway ,I used to see mention in the review section of a review being ratted due to the same ip address being used....so setting up multiple usernames with the intention of causing trouble surely would be piked up the same way

You talk of not putting off genuine people and therefore this proposal would not work!.................Well surely the truly genuine people WILL return after a wait period to post.In the meantime they can look around ,see what goes on,see what ladies interest them and see who is in town aswell as who is going to be in town soon.
Im a genuine guy (try to be at least) and ive often had to wait for a particular lady to return before being able to make an appointment via pm contact....so why not keep the place a little tidier and restrict postings from new members or pm contact to those who are "genuine" enough to wait a week rather than open the floodgates to anyone with a chip on their shoulder to barge in and abuse others 2 hrs after registering?

A wait period would just put genuine people off.
The problem is when the trolls post abuse at other members they only thrive when people response to them or take the bait.
If they are ignored they usually disappear. Its the only way to deal with them. Isolate them in this way.

Well I just signed out of here and I can still read all the topics/threads...I can still see all the ladies profiles and see all their phone numbers and photos (therefore booking wont be restricted or the ability to read the threads)
So can you please tell me with a logical head how restricting new users before they can post will do anyone any damage or "put people off"?..........all it will do is frustrate trolling users who wont want to have to wait a week to cause trouble and then have to start all over again once banned.

Late night trolls are a pain in the hole, everyday this week there was a new one spawning out of the carcass of the one from the night before. Same person doing it, is it possible to block his IP address or some such hi tech shite.
He particularly annoyed me by posting on my Sin City 2 thread that Eva Green had rubbish tits.....

OK, If a topic interested a newbie and he thinks he can add some valuable and helpful information and genuinely wants to get involved or has a problem or is looking to other more experienced members for advice and then he can't, some will get frustrated at this and maybe just say fu*k this and leave. A week is a long time.
The majority who join are good people and are genuinely interested and not wanting to cause trouble.
Its not really going to put trolls off as they will always find a way, the best way is just ignore them as if they are not there but that is just my opinion.

    Disagree
Too many people are not disciplined enough to ignore them so they will get fed once in.
Let everybody join, let everybody read topics, search for ladies etc but make it so that only those who can wait out a week wait period can actually participate in discussions...............surely they are going to be a better class of poster if they take the time to wait that period .......(No one is trying to stop anyone from getting their leg over..........the ladies make that call themselves)
