Gardai raid Tralee ‘brothel’
Three Romanian women aged 20, 21 and 36 were charged this week with running a brothel in Tralee town centre, following a raid by gardaν on a premises on Tuesday night.
Local gardaν had a rented flat on North Circular Road under surveillance for a number of weeks, and as part of an ongoing operation into the investigation of brothels, three women were arrested.
They were taken to Tralee Garda Station and questioned overnight, before being taken in custody to Tralee Court on Wednesday morning.
Alena Armaselu (21), Dumitra Sorescu (36), and Uidad Arsureanu (20) were all charged with keeping, managing, acting and assisting in the management of a brothel, and with knowingly permitting a premises at 2 Caherdannan, North Circular Road, Tralee, to be used as a brothel.
They had been questioned for several hours before being charged at approximately 1.30am on Wednesday morning by Garda Daniel Buckley.
The court heard that all three women replied “I understand” to the charges.
They are represented by solicitor Dave Ramsey, who applied for free legal aid, stating that none of the women charged had funds, and none had bank accounts.
