    Default British Open Golf

A promising start for the Irish to the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. Rory McIlroy in the lead at -6, Shane Lowry at -4 and Darren Clarke at level. Tiger is only 3 shots off the lead in his first major in almost a year. Can he go all the way on the same course where he won in 2006?

Still waiting for that Woods major win, looked good today though. If Mcilroy can keep the big numbers off his card he'll be right there on sunday

Yes but the problem with Rory this year, as recently as last week in fact, is that he has tended to shoot a bad second round score. So tomorrow will be a big test of character for him.

playing is ok, but watching it is like watching paint dry just don't get how its televised or how the players get paid so much for such a boring sport to watch

A steady round so far for Rory. There are a host of other players gaining ground on him though so he needs to shift to a higher gear to take the pressure off him. Darren Clarke is having a great round and is now five under par.

A super finish to his round for McIllroy who now has a six shot lead going into the final round tomorrow. Its his to lose unless someone in the chasing pack has the round of their lives, and Rory has a disaster.

McIlroy lead reduced to three. He should still win, but it is starting to look close. And he has a reputation of cracking under pressure.
