    Only three drivers have won Grand Prix this year so far,
    Lewis Hamilton 10 wins, Nico Rosberg 4 wins and Daniel Ricciardo 3 wins.

    Daniel Ricciardo mathematically cannot win the championship now. The best (and likely) result he will have is third.

    Between Lewis Hamilton and Daniel Ricciardo, it will go down to the last race in Abu Dhabi to settle the championship.
    Even if Nico Rosberg fails to finish in Brazil, and Lewis Hamilton wins, Nico Rosberg will go 49 points behind. Then, at Abu Dhabi if Lewis Hamilton finished out of the points, and Nico Rosberg finished first, Nico Rosberg would win the championship.
    However, Lewis Hamilton is the most likely winner. It is now out of Nico Rosberg’s hands. Even if he wins the last two remaining races, Lewis Hamilton could still win the championship. Nico Rosberg needs a bad result(or two bad results)from Lewis Hamilton now.

    Brazillian Grand Prix

    Circuit: Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace

    Circuit length: 4.309 km

    Race laps: 71

    Race distance: 305.909 km

    Circuit lap record: 1m 11.473s - Juan Pablo Montoya, Williams, 2004

    Last year's podium: 1 - Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull), 2 - Mark Webber (Red Bull), 3 - Fernando Alonso (Ferrari)

    Most wins (driver): 6 - Alain Prost; 4 - Michael Schumacher; 3 - Carlos Reutemann; 2 - Emerson Fittipaldi, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen, Juan Pablo Montoya, Felipe Massa, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel; 1 - Carlos Pace, Niki Lauda, Jacques Laffite, Rene Arnoux, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve, David Coulthard, Giancarlo Fisichella, Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button

    Mercedes - 17 consecutive podium finishes, 9 consecutive pole positions;
    Renault - 117 consecutive races in the points as an engine manufacturer;
    Daniel Ricciardo - 15 straight points finishes;
    Nico Rosberg - 9 consecutive front row starts;
    Lewis Hamilton - 5 straight Grand Prix victories

    All five of the world champions on this year’s grid - Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel - have clinched the title in Brazil (Vettel has also done so at three other venues)

    Sebastian Vettel has just two more opportunities to record his first victory of the year. The last time a defending champion failed to a win a race the following season was Jacques Villeneuve (champion in 1997) in 1998.
    Ferrari and McLaren likewise have two races to record their first victory of the year. Should they fail to do so, it will be the first season since 1980 that neither team has won a Grand Prix.

    Mercedes have now scored ten one-two finishes this year, equalling McLaren’s record from 1988. One-two again in Brazil and they will beat the record.

    This year's world title can't be decided in Brazil, but six drivers' championships have been clinched in Brazil (in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2012)

    Force India’s Sergio Perez has been given a seven-place grid penalty for “reckless” driving on the first lap of Sunday’s U.S. Grand Prix.

    Caterham and Marussia are on the provisional team list for next year. Marussia (if they survive) look set to be re-named as Manor F1. Sauber will have a new driver line-up with Marcus Ericsson moving from Caterham alongside rookie Felipe Nasr

    The Marussia Formula 1 team has ceased trading and all staff have been made redundant.
    Unless there is a last-minute rescue, looks like they will not survive as a team.

    Daniel Ricciardo is third in the driver’s championship. Mathematically, he cannot overtake Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg.

    Only Valtteri Bottas, Sebastian Vettel or Fernando Alonso can overtake him. (very unlikely they will). Because of results countback* having exactly the same points will still put them behind, they need at least one more point than him to take third place.

    Valtteri Bottas is 59 points behind, so he needs, from Brazil, 10 points = 5th place or better to stay in the race for third.

    Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso Ferrari are both 65 points behind, so they need 16 points = 2nd place (18 points, 3rd would only give 15 points) from Brazil.

    So after this weekend, Daniel Ricciardo is likely to be confirmed as third in the 2014 championship.

    The race for first, however, will now continue to the last race.

    * If drivers are tied on points, positions are decided on results countback. Wins are compared, and the driver with most wins is classified ahead. If wins are equal, second places are looked at, and so on
