As your dad is probably fond of telling you, you can find just about anything in the ‘Weekly Specials’ at German supermarket chain Aldi. One Irish fella even wrote a pretty epic song about it.)
That said, though, we can’t say we ever imagined cocaine landing in stores.
But that’s exactly what has happened in Berlin, where police have found a whopping 140kg of the drug hidden in banana boxes sent to the supermarket.

Valued at about €6 million, the cocaine was sent to five branches in the German capital after apparently arriving by sea to Hamburg.
It is believed the crates originally came from Columbia.
A police spokesperson has said that it’s likely smugglers made a “logistical error”, and the crates were sent to Aldi by mistake.
