Can somebody explain to me thepoint of being an atheist? As I see it, if an atheist is right, he (or she) is f~cked once he dies; but if he's wrong, he's probably f~cked too! Surely - as the old people said - it's better to live in hope than die in despair? If you spend your life believing in an afterlife and it turns out you're wrong, what have you lost? Seems to me like a free bet in the Grand National!

It is a bit hypocritical that I love Christmas, but then again if it brings people together in harmony and gives people hope and a time to come together to celebrate, what is wrong with that? It makes the world a better place. People give more to charities, buy a toy for a child who wouldn't normally have a gift at Christmas and families can get together. On the other foot, people are beating each other up in Asda for the last Black Friday bargain, some people are depressed and lonely and.... wait for it.... families get together!
It is all about perspective.

I too was born one, maybe a proud one too but the behavior of these bastards has long ago made me turn away from them and their teachings. Religion has a lot to answer for! Most of the wars fought over the centuries were as a differing religious views( and a bit of greed here & there)
Still we can wish each other peace & goodwill for the season!
I had wonderful Xmases as a kid and after that too, it's only in the last few years that they havent the same excitement for me ,when you lose your parents and there is illness in the family etc

its fairly pointless if you dont have kids in your life and are not meeting people that you rarely see and christmas becomes one of the only times in the year that you get to see them, then again its about great memories too and its good to relive and share them and reminess about your past Christmases as a child especially. love the look of the xmas tree, but folks too old to put the full sized one up and decorate it like they use to when we were kids. it literally looked magical back thenChristmas as we know is a day for our lord (
