I can cook but nothing fancy just basic food. I can cook most dinners. I am no Gordon Ramsay or Jamie Oliver

I know alot of lads who are completely useless at cooking and would think I am completely weird for being able to cook to some degree.

Should everybody male and female be able to cook rather than depend on take away or the local shop/deli that does dinners?
I love my cooking because noone else eats it. I mean how good can that get?Im a strange cook though as I simply cook about twice a week. I throw everything into a huge pot and cook it all. When the house is full of smoke I know its done. I fry meat twice a week too and the rest of the time its raw or microwave. I could never see the point in spending an hour doing something that take sme two minutes to eat. Its sort of distorted.

I specialized in souther Asian and Caribbean food (Jamaican and Trinidad). Polish and English food is out of the question since I was learning it since I remember. What else... Japanese- ll kinds of sushi and I'm a master of stakes.

Like a lot of men who have lived most of their adult life on their own I went through all the typical phases when it comes to cooking.

When I first got my own place my approach to food was to grab a takeaway menu from all around and food variety meant ordering from a different one each time.

My fridge/pantry contained leftovers or tinned food.

This soon got boring and I piled on the weight.

Phase two was trying to replicate the cooking I grew up with which meant meat, potatoes and veg - basic but filling.

With the popularity of cookery programmes and books I slowly grew more adventurous till I became a good cook.

The next challenge was moving from cooking for myself to cooking for friends and after a few disasters I am now very happy in the kitchen. My repertoire has greatly expanded over the years and while not gourmet I can pull together a dam good meal.

An earlier poster said he likes to cook to music and I concur, the one rule I have is I cook alone - I am a control freak and I hate clutter/mess so I clean as I go.

Confidence as in many things is the key. I now live in Dubai so it's a whole new set of ingredients and it's fun trying new dishes.

Freezer... It's not an option when I'm cooking.. Before I turn around, food is gone. Thing is I hate cooking but I love food and I havent eaten my food for at least a year now (I have a lot of allergies and my medical condition doesnt allow me to eat certain food or drink alcohol)
