Why not to answer , unless you have something to hide.

There is doubt and a good reason for the officer to ask questions.

The reason you dont have to answer is because its your right not to be questioned without reason , these are the rights we as a people fought and won over a long period of time and should not be given up lightly ,its called freedom of choice ,you have a choice to answer or not and if you believe that the person asking questions is doing so in order to trick or in some way damage you then your right is not to answer, so please do not use the something to hide arguement, I have nothing to hide but I do have something to protect - my rights

Be nice and cooperate , always thought communication is the key for everything , even to stay out of troubles.

I am not sure , but if you refuse to answer , I would think the police officer can investigate you and the lady you are driving.
Is it worth it the hassle?

If you look at my post before this one I did say that the guards do have a right to ask you some questions if or when you are stopped either in a car or out walking I did not say you should refuse to answer ,people should be aware as to what your rights are if this happens ,too often people answer questions that should not be answered , ie ,

" whos the lady in the car with you ?"
Wrong answer - "Oh she my friend Rachel and shes an escort "
Right answer " Just a friend "

Can you see how one answer can lead to many more questions and maybe trouble, and the other answer is just straight to the point
"Oh so I see sir ,just a friend , really? "
"Yes Guard and she is not deaf or dumb and if you need anymore details then feel free to ask her yourself"

There are also too many security people acting as if they are police officers and demanding answers when in fact the have no right whatsoever to question you
