If you don't let it go true your throat and just on your tongue, you will not catch throat infection so easily. I have a tongue scrapper, so after the deed I spit it out fast and scrap the rest of my tongue. That works the best for me.

Oral sex is a relatively low-risk activity with regards to STD's for both giver and receiver.
There is far more risk to the person performing the oral sex. Herpes is the biggest risk!
I was told by a sexual health consultant never to floss or clean my teeth just before an appointment because this would increase the risk of catching something and make me more susceptible to mouth/throat infections.
