    Default American Courtesans

Stumbled across this 2013 docudrama 'American Courtesans' on the interweb which features regular sexworker supporter Norma Jean Almodovar.

Checked it out on imdb and it got huge 8.9 / 10 as a movie piece. What's interesting about the imdb piece however are the user reviews and the repeated remarks on how the mainstream media homogenise all the participants.

Only released in the summer , so there's only 72 votes entered but the user reviews makes very interesting reading on the women involved and how their stories often ring through to the stereotype but the women themselves and their mentality betrays the 'victim' status that society imposes on them.

I'm guessing nobody here has seen it.........?

    Wow! Thanks Milkman.

Watched the trailer and read the reviews. Seems like its a very simple idea but very well put together.

Fair play to the women involved, must take huge guts to put yourself out there like that to a big audience. One of the reviewers pointed out that because one of the sex workers involved is also the producer would have helped to build trust amongst everyone that their stories wouldn't be twisted.

Hopefully this will help other sex workers to "come out of the closet".
