Fair enough, but an absence of fossil evidence, even if fossil traces are unlikely, doesn't really help you prove your point. Moreover, some species do fossilize better than others, so it might be the case that the fossils of very large creatures like dragons ought to have been discovered by now. I honestly don't know; I really haven't looked into this particular area very well. However, based on my own knowledge and experience, I would be amazed if mermaids, dragons, etc. actually existed. In such cases, Occam's Razor has proved to be a very useful tool.

you talk about records drawings etc, which show mermaids to be half human half fish, well at least thats what i always thought a mermaid was
we agree dolphins are mammals, im not saying anything about dolphins, i know what a dolphin is.
with regards mermaids, considering they dont exist, from drawings etc i would have thought their lover half was more fish like, scales etc, whales and dolphins have smooth skin
