The Irishman who ran 22 marathons in three weeks



Niall Roche doesn’t do things in small measures. He has just ran to the 'end of the earth’, the equivalent of 22 marathons in just three weeks to raise money for charity.

The 32 year-old ran the entire Camino de Santiago de Compostela from France through Spain and then added on an extra 90km to Cape Finisterre — which means ‘end of the earth’. Which was an incredible total of 908km in total.

The IT worker ran the incredible distance in memory of his mother, Ronnie Fehily, who tragically died from a brain tumour last year and Niall and the family set up Brain Tumour Ireland as the first nationwide organisation dedicated to sufferers and their families in Ireland.

Niall however decided to take on the mammoth Camino trail and has already netted more than €4,000 from his exploits.

“It was physically and mentally demanding to get up and running every morning but the Camino seems to bring something out in people to dig deep and keep going,” he told The Sun.

“It was about seven or eight hours running every day. I’m still tired and the legs take the brunt of it. It’ll probably take a while for the whole thing to sink in but it’s great to have it completed,” he added.
