Leaflets or letters (the same thing really) are being delivered outlining how they will install meters, charges etc. FFS the following month the revenue will write to people informing them of property tax. In the UK we pay a community charge (equalivent to your property tax) & water rates, my commnunity charge for 2 bed property for a year is £920 & my water rates are £447.

this isnt the uk. the uk is the uk and this kip is this kip and you cant compere both. to give an example ,here the property tax covers nothing but in most other countries that have it ,it covers refuse etc. The uk is a cheaper country the here as well when it comes to lots of things.

I never said Ireland was the UK, I was giving you an example of how much we are charged yearly, the UK is not the only country that charges for water & community services unfortunately we are now all expected to pay a % towards the cost of everyday servcies offered by councils.

This is the difference. We get very little decent service from councils here. We are charged extra for everything and all most councils do is waste money. I give you a simple eg. Take cork city council. They pave the city will expensive paving slabs and then allow trucks (including their own) to drive on them or park on them. Another eg is the parking laws. Every second car in the city center has a disability permit on it and the person isnt disabled. How much are the council loosing each year here? I could think of loads of egs. Next time you see council doing work ,stop and look and Im willing to bet half of them are doing f'all only standing around.

the problem with councils here is that they take money and then waste it either by corruption or poor productivity. Irish councils belong on the shelfs of sex shops in the dildo section.

The uk council tax also includes bins, free gp and goes towards schools in the borough you pay the tax in!
