Lacy, I'm pretty confident that if you come to Ireland, you will do quite well based on your appearance alone. However, I would'nt advise coming here to spend a month in Cork only. After a week, you will have met all the serious punters in Cork, and given the reported level of police activity down there, them also.
Corkonians may regard their city as the real capital of Ireland, but in reality and compared to Dublin, it's a one horse town with a spitoon strategically positioned at either end. Dublin on the other hand, is full of movers and shakers, the captains of industry, the financial magnets, civil servants, and assorted corrupt politians and perverted clergy. In otherwords, anybody who could do with a good shagging to bring them back to sanity is located in Dublin.
If you,re looking for scenery and a more genuine Irish cultural experience with some genuine bohemian types who can bulls**t bilingually, then Galway is the place to go.
Then again, if you are interested in studying the famous Irish peace process and the lessons that the world can learn from this is terms of conflict resolution, sectarian, racial and cultural harmony (as long as you're not gay says Iris Robinson), the green and orange punters of Belfast may be your cup of tea.
In any event, wherever you decide to visit, Ireland extends a Cead Mile Failte to you. With the way the economy is going, we can do with every single tourist we can get.
