Thumbs down What is a racist?

I'm still smarting over the racist remark and feel quite passionate aboout it. (For those that don't know I was accused not once, but 3 times of being a racist yesterday by another Escort) You can make your own mind up if you want to trawl through the (True Independent Escort) thread.

I know I'm not a racist, but I wondered if this is one of those topics that is ambiguous or is it pretty cutndried?

    What makes someone a racist?

Oh by the way I have never said no to any potential client based on their origin, but I have said no to men I could not understand over the phone.

I have dated men from all over the world and I do not see colour, but I see the person.

I know it has nothing to do with me, but I feel an inward guilt for the wrong that has been done historically with regards to slavery. As a child I cried buckets when watching the film roots and made an inward decision never to judge someone by their colour.

I am sickened by racists and have actually stopped dating someone, because of his attitude towards black people.

I have many friends of all different nationalities. Where they or their parents were born has no bearing on our friendship.

To me someone who is racist is someone who singles someone out for being racially different and hates them for no other apparent reason. They may be verbally, physically or mentally abusive towards them and treat them with contempt.

    So... what are your thoughts?

That is a very good question. In my opinion, a racist is someon who sees your skin colour/ethnicity first, sometimes before they even see you as a human being.

I abhor racism in any shape or form, and even comments made half in jest get my blood boiling. If you do not see the person first then you can never know the true being.

A racist is someone who sees their own race as superior.

Its very simple, racists are cruel UN human people who try to humiliate others because of origin or skin colour.Having said that i think any escort has to think of her own safety as a priority,so that alone gives her the right to decide who she is going to see, regardless of race or colour. That doesn't mean shes a racist, that means she is doing her work safely.

A racist to me is someone who sees the colour first, and that takes complete pre-eminence over the human being.

I loathe racism in all its forms, but I think that all races are guilty of it and this isn't publicised at all, it is a 'white problem'. Anyone remember English boxer Alan Minter saying before the Hagler fight 'I am not losing my title to a black man'? Terrible line, and one he is still being hammered for 30 years later. Around the same time, Hagler said, before a fight with Brit boxer Tony Sibson 'I don't touch white flesh' Have you heard that story? Thought not.

Also I have no guilt of over slavery. It was the rich blacks who sold their 'property' to the whites. We didn't go over there with a fishing net picking them up. It is another case of the working classes getting screwed over by those in charge.

For me, we are all people. It doesn't interest me what colour you are. If you are sound by me, I will be sound with you. That will always be the case.

great thread. This should be a sticky along with my next one. The answer is it depends on where your from and the opinions of the people there. Here in ireland, if you say anything at all wrong with someone who is not Irish than your a racist. If your fine with people coming in doing fuck all but hanging about and living off the state while you and yours will suffer more than your a racist.

My answer to people with regards to racism , is to go to the law because racism (true racism) is a very serious thing that carries a custodial sentence. Its all a form of defamation so be prudent when using the term. Its only a matter of time before someone does take someone to court for be unwrongly called a racist.

Like mostly everything the term has being so abused that it actually protects true racists.

    it does,
    Westside.

Not necessarily. A racist is someone who has an issue with someone's culture, colour or ethnicity and makes decisions towards them based on these factors.

While on the subject of racism or xenophobia, I do think that some people on these boards have been guilty of prejudice. I recall comments made here by clients that assume Romanian escorts are dodgy and people should stay away from them. Similarly, there are escorts that will only see Irish clients or won't see people of an Indian ethnicity (for example), but then again, this is summed up to preference and choice, and tends to be deemed as acceptable for that reason.

With all the media attention in the soccer the term Racist is being banded around way too often nowadays for my liking,
now I am not racist myself but I get sick to death of minority groups in different countries demanding different rights and privileges on the grounds that if they don't then you are racist.

It just seems to me that people have lost the sense of what the term 'racist ' actually means and just use it to grab attention to themselves

example : you get in fight in a night club ( Idon't drink so not me)

1@ you fight with a white guy, cops come along you both get locked up for the night, get given your breakfast and kicked out in the morning

2 - you fight a black guy, cops come along you both get taken to station, he cries Racist attack, you get locked up, dragged to court in morning, prison sentence with your name all over papers for racial assault and he walks away with smile on his face

This has happened too often and this is why I now say I am not racist I just hate everyone

No you are not a racist Kate, I don't think I know anyone that is a racist but we see it in the media all the time now so people think it's ok to accuse others without any foundation what so ever. Anyone that reads your posts here will know know you have no ill intent towards anyone so forget about other peoples accusations and contiue to keep us entertained.

Wow - this is a complex one. I liken it to bullying in a way in that if you perceive you are being bullied, wither physically or mentally - then you are. I believe for whatever reason you believe a comment is racially motivated then that could be construed as an racist comment. I also believe context has a big part to play. I've heard - in films, 2 black characters calling eachother the 'N" word - yet it is not meant as a racist comment, just a term, but another person , say someone watching the film could feel it was racist and take offence. Hence thats why I think context has a big part to play.

And no Kate I don't think you are a racist at all based on your posts. Sometimes the race card is an easy one to play.

There is also a generation here and in the UK , and I've heard it, 'working like a bl..k'. Do they believe they are racist - no, would others consider it such then yes. Confused ! Yes its a complex one where most 'decent' people wouldn't consider themselves racist - but are we all a littlle bit prejudiced in someway.

For info as defined in The Oxford Dictionary:
[LIST][*]the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races:
