Agency are exploiting escorts for taking more money then their work is worth ! Paying somebody for a service for work the money worth is fair , but cashing in more is not !

Paying simply for the job done is no problem , but paying more then the work requires is not ( agency )
Paying somebody for a webpage is paying for the work done , I pay the same for a webpage as another business !
Paying somebody to do your phone , if its reasonable price , why not, but mostly it isnt !

I am getting so many mixed signals here, especially from hearing about how agencies work in the UK. So what we are defining here is that there is a difference between agencies in the UK and agencies in Ireland. The question is, why is that? Is it that Ireland just happens to be a place on the globe where ALL agencies are dodgy, but in the UK none are dodgy? Is this not anything to do with the attitudes of the people, media and government?

The way I look at it is that Ireland only decided that condoms could be sold a couple of decades ago. The Church are only starting to accept that using contraception isn't a 'corruption' of the Catholic religion. I do also think that there are independent escorts that do play on the concept of 'bad Irish agencies' yet deem it acceptable in other countries. Operation Quest also highlighted that the 'problem' with coerced escorts is a complete exaggeration. An RTE programme also exploited one agency in particular that took 50% of an escorts' income and apparently treated their clients very well, despite being open and honest about being an agency.

The stigma of agencies in Ireland (in my eyes) seems to be something rote-learned and people still confuse the terms of 'pimped', 'trafficked', 'agency' and 'coercion', when they are all very separate things, and in the eyes of the law, 'trafficked' and 'pimped' covers a broad spectrum and the silliest of things (such as working with another escort or a husband buying a plane ticket) can be pigeon-holed into these categories.

Lashing out? No, I'm expressing my opinion. There are plenty of foreign girls that come to Ireland for an education and work as an escort to pay the bills. In college, I had a friend from Romania that could speak pidgin English and by the end of the year, she was writing complex articles such as the use of emotive language in 'Wuthering Heights'.

I did English and French at school. I can speak and write both languages.

That's sort of what we are debating. We tried to set a criteria for what could define a 'true independent' escort last year, and as it happens, there is nothing full-proof. The concept of being 'true independent' is just as blurry.
