I think everyone here doesn't want to see ladies working here that are not working of their own free will. Period.

But I've read one ladies blog of how she started out working in Ireland and worked for an agent and I honestly could understand why. After a certain time she felt that she was confident to start work for herself. This was a very intelligent woman who could speak fluently two tongues already and with her apprenticeship served could now speak three.

Apologies if most is exagerating, but many of the forum Escorts have commented that they 'used' to work for an Agency before becoming Independent, including Rachel. It seemed like a natural progression for the board members.

Most escorts that I'm aware of have started off as agency. That's the point. There are clients (and some escorts) condemning agencies but that's how many escorts get a foot-hold into the industry. Again, just to reiterate, we know that there are agencies that do take advantage, but there are also potential escorts that also seek the services of agencies to get into the industry. Many escorts become independent eventually to take on their own responsibilities and choose their own clients. I can also imagine that even when an independent escort decides to see a new client, they can often be faced with the dilemma that they don't know what to expect. Of course many escorts use a referencing system, but that would only cover some potential new clients, would it not?

Okay, there is a lot of information here and there are understandably different opinions and perspectives on a) the definition of a 'true independent', b) what peoples' perceptions of an agency is and c) how these differ in terms of welfare and benefits to escorts.

I will put together a sticky thread tomorrow defining the terms, 'coercion', 'trafficked', 'agency' and 'pimp', and how these can be grey areas when defining them.
