If she is employing them directly and she pays them a set amount per day, not per call or by how many clients she sees then yes she is still Independent. Like Heather said in an earlier post, there is no reason why an Independent can't employ a maid to take care of the phone for her.

However, another bug bear for me and I think for many clients, is when someone with good English is employed to pretend to be the Escort and passes themself off as the Escort during the conversation on the phone. This is wrong and should not happen. It should be explained on the phone that the lady they are arranging to meet has little English, but is working of her own free will. That way the client can decide if this is important to them or not.

Kate, I think you are tarring everyone with the same brush, which is exactly way this stigma remains. May I ask, have you worked in a country as an escort where you cannot speak the native language, and if so, how did you manage?

Absolutely not! I am responded to something that was written that is very doubtful. How are you supposed to make friends with someone when you don't speak the same language? I do know of some independents that pay for help or services (taking calls or setting up their websites for example). Does this make them non-independent? We have also established that in most cases, agencies don't 'force' escorts into the job.

Paying simply for the job done is no problem , but paying more then the work requires is not ( agency )
Paying somebody for a webpage is paying for the work done , I pay the same for a webpage as another business !
Paying somebody to do your phone , if its reasonable price , why not, but mostly it isnt !
I am speaking in general here , so I dont say Agencies force somebody into the job in most cases !

As it happens I don't think you should be allowed to work in a Country without at least basic knowledge of the language. My Cousin married a lady in Finland and it took him a full year before he was able to speak the language well enough to get employment, as that is the policy they have over there. When working in the sex industry it is vital that both parties understand each other enough to know where to draw the line. It's an issue of safety and not misunderstanding each other. He might think she is saying yes, when she really means no etc..

That I hope does not make me racist, but caring for the well fare of the person who is putting herself in a vunerable situation.

Exactly, non-speaking escorts are faced with this dilemma, hence the reason they may require the services of an agency. In this day and age, language should not be a barrier. Some people visiting foreign countries may hire a translator.
