You can't use the defence that escort is not prostitution in UK courts. Agencies are illegal in UK because it is only legal if you can show you are not exerting any control over the escorts, and taking bookings is considered exerting control. It is perfectly legal to run any social introduction agency. If your ads do not offer prostitution, you do not offer a premises and you do not know anything about the services ladies may offer. Infact, you can pay tax on that. No different to running a dating agency. The Internet opened up things to closer inspection, what with reviews and so on.
Probably could still go to prison if they bothered to get evidence though
