Just to add my voice to everybody else's a very big thank you to Rachel, EbonyAmber, UK Heather and any other person I've failed to mention for going there and speaking out for peoples rights. You escorts were brilliant and had them rattled! I salute you.

Yes the least that can be done is to give them free advertising as a thank you gesture. They did a very big favour for everybody.

As someone said the TOTRL crowd are in a race against time. They are tapping in to the unholy alliance of the Ronan Mullen's and Ivana Bacik's of this world. Escorts and their friends should stick together, organise, become stronger and stronger and fight them tooth and nail!

I am humbled by the A1 performance of Rachel, Ebony Amber UK Heather and any other escort who spoke that I've failed to mention.

Alan Shatter hinted at the possibility of another conference. If there is one give them the same again and more.

I listened to an interview on Fri. evening last on RTE radio.
It was with a senior police officer dealing with prostitution in Sweden.
He outlined how the situtation had improved in relation to trafficing. He outlined how the prosucution of clients takes place and how the Escorts testify against the client.
When questioned as to why an escort would testify against a client,he said i was not neccessary as they would have survelence, audio and vidio evidence.
Which would indicate phone tapping, sitting outside apartment blocks and other high teck work,to monitor two consenting adults
meeting for whatever reason or business.
This country is broke and it would seem to be another waste of scarce public funds on un-neccesary activity, unless it is to boost the income of Solicitors and barristers.
Sincere Thanks to -- Rachel -- and--Amber-- and any others that attending the consultative conference.

To have my phone ,my apartment, my life under survelence is not something I want.
First of all is invading my privacy and I have the right to have one.
I do not only talk to clients over the phone, also I do talk with family and friends, nobody has to listen to my conversations.

If selling sex is not a crime, why would I be treated like a criminal ?

As about the funds no, Ireland doesnt have them.

My question. Should EI not also take part in these events, being the biggest 'player' in the industry in Ireland ?
To give my opinion on this one quickly, I think E-I should not take part , for various reasons.to name just a few:
-is a business making lots of money
    -advertise escorts
-Ruhama and feminist group do not agree with this site

I am sure alot of work is done behind the scenes from E-I on escorting/punting behalf .

thanks to the timely stance taken by these intelligent ladies:
SweetRachel, EbonyAmber and UK Heather and others, i really think
Ruhama have been rumbled. the government will work towards a best practice
    model for Ireland.

Ruhama may get funding to help girls working outside, but their plan to control
the sex lives of others has failed.

Hear, hear, I second that. Her stand was beyond brave and was not easy.

As me, LaBelle Thatcher and Amber talking, we did it from our heart, with passion and straight to the point, which was "we are sex workers and ye want to take away our income, put us in danger and we know better than any of you sitting on those chairs what we want and need"...
Another Irish lady I used to work some time ago, asked them questions and to the point as well, she was clear and calm, very well received by me and the rest in that room who had ears to listen to her.

Well that it was stuck out for me in the entire proceedings - the views of sex workers would have otherwise been absent entirely. It's a ridiculous situation for those who know exactly what they want and need from future legislation to be left out without an opportunity to be heard, as they are the people who know best.

There's also issues which you draw upon earlier in the thread about the practicality of enforcing it and the waste of resources. There are indeed even legal issues around the interference with the privacy rights of individual sex workers who would not be doing anything against the law.
