    Question Giving Blood ....

for a long time I've been intending to give blood, but for various reasons including travel to malaria zones, couldn't.
Recently a very close family member was in hospital and needed a blood transfusion and it really hit home how important it is.

So finally made my mind up to do it.

Went to my GP to get myself checked out and last week the bood/urine test results came back all clear.

Off I went to the Blood Clinic, and was given a form to fill out as a 1st time donor. Was working my way through it, all grand until near the end.

Have you had sex with anyone that receives payment or drugs for sex. If yes, you need to wait 12 months.

They have their rules & policies in place to protect the health and safety of patients and I'm all for that. Absolutely.

So if they can't be sure of the safety of my blood, with a report from my GP and their own tests, how can they be sure that the blood of anyone who has regular casual unprotected sex / one night stands is safe?
Thank you all the ladies I had pleasure of meeting. Forever grateful for the memories

Roders! I would have answered this question yes (my wife) she gets payments every week ant try and tell her she has to wait twelve months before she's paid again

You offer to give blood and they make you feel like a criminal

Sadly that is the way the Blood Transfusion people work.

WGs can NEVER give blood and anyone who does/tries to is really putting others lives in jeopardy. It would be very selfish to do so. We may not agree with it but we just don't know what is lying dormant and for how long so better safe than sorry and don't give.

They should have a sign on the door ...
Virgins, Priest, Nuns and Monks only please

Seriously though, i understand the need for safety and not to take risks with peoples lives. Just don't know how they can be more sure that anyone with an active casual unprotected sex life is safer.

I have given blood prior to Escorting and I add that I believe I had casual (protected) sex as a swinger during that time, although admittedly it averaged at around once a month. Your doctors note shows that you were clear 2 weeks prior to the test being taken, but there is still a 2 week window that can not be accounted for. This is the problem. You would have to abstain from sex for those 2 weeks and take more tests and then wait another 2 weeks and again abstain to be truely sure that you are safe to give your blood.

Most Escorts and Clients are careful and are no more likely to have an STI than anyone else, but there are those that take risks and you never know if you have encountered one of those, so as already said, it is better to be safe than sorry.

or abstain for 12 months if it is protected sex with an escort. that's their rules. can't see that happening anytime soon. life's too short.

Having abstained for 3 years in one go on a couple of occassions I agree with you 100% on that one. Plus you live a longer and happier life with regular sex, so I'm Escorting for my health!

Im sure its 12 months for good reason, can take months for something to develop in your system. Better safe than sorry.
They should put down casual unprotected sex too yes.

That would be the ideal, but they're always short of donors. If they brought that rule in they would be in crisis mode all the time.
