If I check out EI in public on my lap top, I do so with my back against a wall. Did this yesterday at a coffee bar in Dublin and on the coach from Dublin to Cork. Even from a distance, a glimpse of the screen makes it obvious which site one is browsing to fellow users.

I think perhaps his motives are genuine, but his indiscretion is appalling. I don't think he knows from just you browsing during break, after all you could be researching a project or anything. He is obviously a client himself. But as others have said he has no right to ask you to come out in public like that.
