    Default Criminalising Clients

Anyone hear the Nolan Show this morning?

A very personal response from "Frank" to the proposal by Lord Morrow (DUP) to make paying for sex illegal in Northern Ireland

Don't know if the BBC Player works in the Irish Republic, but here's the link anyway

criminalising punters will be an impossaible task to police

ruhuma claim we are all trafficked, all the adds are here we are but a phone call away

and yet to catch many if any

how can 2 garda based in dublin police lets say min 1000 punters day

will 2 garda (one cant work alone after all) sit outside say 500 odd apartments

that 1000 garda, and of course shifts, so lets say 2000 garda will have to be given

logically it cant happen, odds are there will a be one or two token cases, most likely will be a stink with the youngest and most likely ''trafficked'' escort

come on harder to agrue consenting adults with an irish or uk, as they reckon if ur forgein ur trafficked in this country

    which is busllshit

you can make something illegal for one and not the other

you cannot make consentual sex illegal, you buy a girl drink all night in a bar

aint of the kindness of ur heart, she has been paid also

do the garda knock on there door

in life everyone pays for sex, we just put a number on it

Excellent points there Saoirse. I've also been wondering how exactly they would even attempt to enforce any of these proposed changes to the law if they actually do go ahead and change the law so it criminalise clients. Your example is is a good one, as it shows the true levels of absurdity that could be reached in attempts to catch-out clients. There's simply no-way that the Garda have the manpower or the resources to undertake that kind of project, even on small or local scales. And even if the did have the men and money to do it, WOULD THEY??? I'm inclined to think not.

You also bring up another good point, that being the automatic assumption made by Ruhama and their ilk that pretty much every 'foreign' lady working here is trafficked (which of course we all know isn't the truth anyway). I've always wondered what they they have to say about the Irish and significant number of UK escorts working in the business here... they could hardly claim that any of you were trafficked! But I suppose they'd make up some other excuse as to why you're all working in the business, probably that you were somehow coerced/forced into it all somehow, just not 'trafficked' into the country for that explicit reason. They'd basically still try to find a way to characterise you all as 'victims', and not have any acknowledgement of the facts that you've all decided to do the work of your own free will, even if you were to STAND UP AND TELL THEM...

They don't need to police it per se.

Stake out one of the more popular ladies, catch a few poor punters with their pants down. Pop then through the courts. Release the story to every paper in Ireland.

    Then it will police itself.

Its a load of bullshit and it shows they haven't got nothing better to spend the payers money on like err real crime they need to come into the 21st century. If they are really wanting to stop trafficked girls when bring out some thing like the girls have proof they are legal by going and showing your passport or id. Like in germany you can't work unless you get a card from the local police and have regular std check ups. That would help stamp out traffficking. But they just want to stop it full stop. They tried to do this in london a few years back but didn't work as you can never stop some thing that is in demand.

If the law is passed I wouldn't stop me but it would change who I see. Would only see those ladies that I have seen before.
