One day to go folks. Last chance to have your say!!!
For some reason there has been an underwhelming response to this consultation process here on the forum? Either that or yer all are in some secret army aimed at fighting the other side, and I just haven't been invited!!!
I suspect many here will feel it's a done deal, or that there is no point in engaging with a government consultation. A few points in response to this view:
- This push to change legislation to criminalizing clients isn't new.The same things is happening in Northern Ireland. However, it should be noted that a similar motion was overturned in the Scottish parliment just recently. So it isn't a done deal!!
- Given that most of us aren't going to go public, this is our one opportunity to have a voice. No need to sacrifice anonymity. You can use a proxy email and name when sending your submisison in. I signed mine James Cork!! Not!!!
- I personally think the content of what we send in is less important compared to just indentifying that we are against any further criminalization of the escorting industry. So you don't have to send in a dissertation - just a paragraph or two will suffice. I do believe the powers that will be will take note of the numbers of responses in each camp. Afterall politicians are very concerend about voters.
Good night and good luck!

I've done something small and to be part of the cause
My local TD well one of my local TDs is Lucinda Creighton, I went to her clinic on pearse st, I went in spent two minutes there all I said to her, I'd like to submit my views and thoughts on the public consultation regarding legislation in the area of prostitution and handed her an envelope with my letter and that was it.
If anything comes of it, I can proudly say I did something small and took part in a democratic process.
