    Needed to bump this thread.

2 weeks to go till deadline for submission to the dept of justice - Fri 11th of August at 5pm.

Ladies and gents, please get something in, even if it's just one page. It doesn't have to be a dissertation. You can just say you don't favour the Swedish model as it would push the industry underground and make things even more dangerous for escorts. And instead that you favour either "decriminalization" or "legislation and regulation" of the escorting industry.

It is a pain in the ass, and I admit, I'm still only on my introduction (but then again I am a long winded fecker!!)

For most of us this is the only chance we will get to have a say in the matter (unless we are willing to risk anonymity).

If we do nothing and the minority abolitionist groups get their way because they've shouted loudest - then we will only have ourselves to blame.

See Patricia's thread for instructions (Bnajaxed has a good summary of instructions post)

P.S. You can send it in by email. So no excuses.

Everybody- please note Morpheuses post. We need to make our voices heard. Also follow the link he mentioned for more guidelines. The deadline is Friday 11th of August at 5PM!
As well as trying to keep bumping up this thread I think that I will post a similiar one on the other forum board. The thread keeps getting lost amid other discussions here.

The deadline has been extended to the 31st August. I checked this with Labelle and she confirmed it was now the 31st.

    Just sent in my submission.

Decided to bump this thread to remind everyone that there is one week to the deadline for submisison, only to see Half man's post that the deadline has been extended!!! Bugger!! I could have done a better job with my submission!

Anyway folks, let me appeal to you to write something and send it in. It doesn't have to be a thesis! If you couldn't be arsed reading the consultation document, then just send in a letter stating your views. Think of it like posting on E-I.

However, I would highly recommend reading the document which is excellent and gives unbiased information. It can be downladed as a pdf at the following link:
    http://www.justice.ie/en/JELR/Pages/PB12000187

I wrote most of my submission based on information and arguments provided by the above document.

You email it to the Clerk of the Joint Committee for the Dept of justice, defence and equality at:
    justiceanddefence@oir.ie

I have always believed in using my right to vote. I feel having my say in the above debate is like a vote. I'm never going to appear in public to debate this, so this is my only chance to try and get the 'powers that be' to hear my views.

I don't know what the outcome will be once the committee has made it's final conclusions and submitted it to the Oireachtas, but I do know I would at least have had my say.

So please folks - have your say. Or we will only have ourselves to blame if the legislation is changed for the worse.

Just sent the clerk an e-mail to have it confirmed that name and address will be kept confidential.
    And this was his reply

All submissions, when made, become Parliamentary papers and the property of the Committee. This means that the Committee may decide to publish these and the information contained will be public. However, due to the topic being examined the Committee has agreed that where requested, any information likely to identify the sender would be omitted/redacted.

If you intend to make a written submission, I suggest that you should break it into two parts:

    (i) a cover letter providing your contact details (this will only be used by the secretariat to communicate with you in relation to your submission), and

(ii) the content of your submission. This does not need to be a long document and need only contain any comments you may have regarding any revision(s) to the laws relating to prostitution. However, it should be clearly linked to the cover letter, for example, you could use an obvious reference number on the letter which is also on the submission heading. (If I am complicating things, give me a call)

Submissions should be sent to the e-mail address justiceanddefence@oir.ie - clearly indicating in the subject field "submission on the review of Laws relating to Prostitution". The cover letter should be addressed to:

    Alan Guidon
Clerk to the Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality
    Leinster House,
    Dublin 2.

My two colleagues are Mr Pat Neary (618 3153) and Ms Barbara Hughes (618 3918). Pat and Barbara are fully aware that the submissions on this topic may contain sensitive information and the personal details will be handled appropriately.

If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Kind Regards

    Alan

    Alan Guidon
    Clerk to the Committee

    Tel: 01- 618 3899

So no need to worry that your contact details will be revealed. No excuses now.
Submit or the anti coalition will get their way.
