Default "90% of sex workers want to leave" but...

According to a survey by Manpower US in December 2011 :

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505125_1...ve-their-jobs/
84% of workers are planning to leave their jobs and only *5%* plan to be in the same job in 12 months time.

Deloitte Index's Shift Survey (20210) says 80% of people hate their jobs:
    http://www.businessinsider.com/what-...ur-job-2010-10

A 2010 UK survey conducted by http://www.caterer.com not only shows 70% of workers overall to be "miserable" in their jobs, but also provides a breakdown by industry:
    http://www.10yetis.co.uk/releases/caterer-workers.html
(The highest figure of people satisfied with their jobs - 49.16% - is in the hospitality sector which is the closest equivalent to the sex industry)

So even in the unlikely event that the unsubstantiated 90% guesstimate were accurate, it is hardly unusual, and taking in to account the numbers of survival and crisis sex workers, might even be below the norm.

He felt her hands slide slowly up his thigh, he couldn't stop himself from growing hard. She caught his eye and in that second he knew: This erotic, sensual Lady is bold if she is anything. She would be upto mischief in no time...

You mean I could just make up my own numbers?

I think that might be WRONG.

Oh...sorry...fogot that...in an anonymous survey, 147% of McDonalds staff surveyed want to quit before the end of the week, with 67.389% contemplating jumping off a tall building some time later today.

    Here's a stat you can't deny
100% of people hate being broke

If someone chooses, of their own freewill, to earn that living in the sex industry then so be it. They should be afforded the same levels of protection afforded by the state to other workers too.

Ah now braveboy, I think that is a bit of an exaggeration...recent opinion polls suggest that 23% of people only mildly dislike being broke, 7.6% do not mind, 13.4% quite like it as long as their partner remains fairly wealthy and 3% are confused by the question...

Here is something banging around in my own head lately. Whenever I worked as a sex provider it was at a time when there was absolutely no other way that I could get and adequate livelihood or sometimes any livelihood at all.

That is a very different kind of "no choice" to anything Ruhama and TORL bang on about (though, like a lot of other things they do their level best to confuse the two and exploit that confusion to the detriment of sex workers), but it is still "no choice", with potentially drastic consequences, and, like any other brand of "no choice" the only real solution is to *OFFER ALTERNATIVE CHOICES* if possible, and, if not, to make the only available choice as safe, pleasant and comfortable as possible.

I am coming to believe that I have an ABSOLUTE MORAL AND HUMAN RIGHT to the only choice available to me without let or hindrance (including strategies calculated to disrupt demand and make that choice non-viable). I am also coming to believe that I have a similar absolute moral and human right to exercise the only choice available to me, apart from welfare dependency, if I choose to do so.

I agree completely. For some the path is taken for survival. I can't imagine the trauma involved in that decision.
I never understand why people with no experience butt in to make difficult situations worse. It's not good intention - thats bullshit. To help, as you say, you have to provide hope and opportunity. These 'agencies' would help a lot more iof they focused resources on creating a safe, clean environment and a pathway out for those who are here because of no choice.

However that would not get them their publicity or funding.

Btw, can't believe its as low as 23%. Publish those findings or be damned!!!!
