This report appears to be flawed as, to the best of my knowledge, the name Big Ben refers only to the bell - the tower itself was never officially named, so to report that it is to be renamed is misleading. No?

Precisely. The report should read 331 greasy palmed MP's have signed up to a campaign to rename it. Which will founder, thankfully. I just love the way that the government think they can misappropriate historical landmarks to suit themselves. Pffft. It is Big Ben and it always will be
