I'm the same funlover, I don't drink and very rarely go out-- don't see much point to it really, particularly since I don't drink, and I've never been any damned good at the 'pub chat-up' anyway, I'm a better operator in much more day-time kind of places; I'll take a coffee shop meet-up or chat-up anytime over the pub! I've always gotten on better anywhere but the pub!

I remember once reading a review of a popular lady that's no longer around by a first-time punter, who wrote only about 20% of a review, and about 80% on the overall cost-benefit analysis of punting vs. going out on the town 2 or 3 nights per-week. He came to the quick realisation and conclusion (which all the rest of us have all come to at some point) that he could actually spend LESS MONEY on a punt once every week to 10 days than he did on drink in a week! He said he really wasn't that in to going out, he only did because it was the only way to meet someone and have any real chance of scoring. THe whole nonsense with buying ladies drink only to end up with them walking away once they had the drink in-hand must've happened to him once-too-many-times, and he'd decided enough with the pub/club and drink scene! He was a true convert to punting! It was great to see the guy come to that realisation! Better to see a stunningly beautiful escort who's always a sure thing than to spend (some might say waste) precious time and money on a randomer out on the town!

As for me, I spend the money when I've got it, sometimes a bit more than I should to be honest. But my philosophy is that you can't take it with you when you die, and any money you've got left when you've kicked the bucket is basically work you did for free! Better have spent it all actually doing something (and hopefully SOMEONE) you like!
