On some forums the stickys work like this:

You join the forum and your membership has to be manually accepted (gives a chance to check ip's etc before hand so keep out the TROLLS)
Once you're accepted, the first time you log in you have to read a certain page for 5minutes or you can't do anything on the site.
If you still have questions, there's a part of the forum specifically for these questions and people will be more tolerant there.

I think it's a good idea apart from keeping out trolls. I like them sometimes

I can't Understand why the same lines are thrown out when this topic comes up.
It's not an actual fact that your more likely to catch an STD from a random person than an escort.
That's a big generalisation that most random women aren't as safe.

Think about it, actually statistically speaking your more likely to catch an STD from an escort. Think about the number of sexual partners they have. Think about the possibilities of the condom breaking with these random partners etc.
When you go to see a doctor for an STD check up they say "have you had unprotected sex, sex with a drug user or a sex worker recently", not because they don't like sex workers, it's because statistically speaking your at more of a risk.

You should know your at more risk then decide if the reward is worth the risk for you. Don't bury your head in the sand.

Great post. I agree to a point about the same lines being thrown about the place. It is a higher risk if there are unprotected activities including owo/cim and reverse oral as the ladies are having sex with more than the average woman would.

But how often does the average uni student go for a full screening? After they stay out all night shagging randoms do you honestly think they run off for check ups? I don't. They might go for the morning after pill but that's mostly it, unless they experience burning or something else worrying. Most of the time the only clue to them not using a condom is soggy knickers. Yuk!

I go at the end of each tour (at least every six weeks) and I bet what you like I'm not upto half the madness the students are. The last time I had unprotected sex was in a relationship some years ago and I don't offer owo so I'm statistically at the lowest risk but I still go for checks each 6wks just in case! Health = Wealth.

really, we cannot generalise so much. We can only look after our own bodies and only do things we're comfortable with. That's why I don't do owo, I'm not comfortable with the risks but reverse oral risk of contracting something is smaller so I happily (!) get involved in this

This brings me to an interesting conversation I had with a friend over the weekend. It came to light that a friend of mine who rarely has sexual partners and is a single Mum caught chlamydia when she was 48. Apparently she laughed when she was told, as she thought due to her general lack of a sex life and the fact she was so old, it was madness that she should have got it. I was very surprised when she openly admitted it, but she was not concerned, as it is easily put right and she wasn't seeing anyone at that point, so wouldn't have past it on.

Me, I've been Escorting for 2 years now and was swinging for 4 years before that and I've never had an STD. The difference is, that although she was not with this chap long, as she was not seeing anyone else, she did not think it was necessary to use a condom. Silly, silly girl!!!! Where as I would not dream of seeing anyone without one.

So... my theory is that people who rarely have sex and have the odd 'fling' or 'one night stand' are far less likely to worry about using contraception and put it down to the 'heat of the moment'. This is why they are a higher risk than an Escort.

I can see both the points being argued above but I would argue they are both singular cases. When these things are looked in the bigger picture they can be quite different.

Alex's case of college students (although without looking at figures) I would think are quite low risk.
Not every college kid is sleeping around, also most college kids would be from middle class socio-economic backgrounds, which I'm guessing would account for a lot less stds and early pregnancies than lower class environments. Also, these kids can avail of free STD tests in most Irish colleges, I think you'd be surprised how many actually avail of this service.

On your example Kate, a 48 year old woman who isn't properly sexually educated? Well being harsh she probably deserves it to teach her.

What I'm really trying to put across is that I'm sure singular escort examples can be quite less risk than a random hussy at the pub, but looking at the larger picture of escorts v general society is something quite different.

I work in this sector and I am astonished in this day and age that people do not realise that there are STD clinics in nearly every hospitel in Ireland where you can call into and get examined, be given drugs and vaccines free of charge, everybody in casual relationship should frequently get checked up, it will not cost you any money only maybe one hour of your life waiting in a waiting room, as I am a punter I recognise a lot of the escorts visiting which is excellent to see, of course I dont say "oh i recognis you" as these clinics are very confidential and private places, it is not our job to jusge people so please please visit these clinics
