    Angry Irish justice system

Is it me or what ?? is this irish justice system fuck up and are the judge’s living in the real world, I just watched the news and saw that the head of Ireland's largest fruit and vegetable producers has been jailed for six years for a €1.6m scam involving the importation of garlic.
Paul Begley, 46, avoided paying customs duty on over 1,000 tonnes of garlic from China by having them labelled as apples.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard the import duty on garlic is "inexplicably" high and can be up to 232%.
In contrast, onions have an import duty of 9%.
The maximum sentence for the offence is five years in prison or a fine of three times the value of the goods.
Judge Martin Nolan imposed the maximum term on one count and one year on another count.
These are to run consecutively, meaning a total of six years.

This after he had agreed with the revenue to repay.

Now my Problem is that Shameless basterds Like Sean FitzPatrick, who has been quizzed by fraud cops over shady dealings in Anglo,
Didn’t even Apology to the Irish nation for the €100 billion financial tsunami unleashed by him and his banker and developer pals which has led to tax hikes, job losses and savage cuts for everyone in Ireland.
Now don’t get wrong if you avoided paying Taxes or break the law you must answer but for fuck shake get a balance.

Never confuse education with intelligence One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life.

In fairness in light of the defense's closing argument of "How do you like them apples ?" the judge was left with no options.

Can I relate my experience of the system witnessed at first hand this week. Woman in court found at Xmas in her car parked dangerously, staggers out of car, blood shot eyes and stinkin of drink. Arrested and sample traken and found to be 170mgs, miles over the limit. Gets off on a technicality cos the doc was called too late to check her. Case dismissed and she gets legal aid as she is a single mother. I'm up for a driving offence, found not guilty as the cop was making stuff up as he went along in the witness box. Costs me €400 for a solicitor, all day in court, hotel costs and travel costs and no compensation. Total costs approx €1000 and I am innocent!! Well fuck me gently I thought.

Unbelievable but not surprising. As far as I'm concerned, justice is dead in this country.

i know a guy who like myself does not drink. he was in a pub one night drinking only non-alcoholic beer when he left the pub and got into his car to go home he was pulled in by the garda just 200 yards from the pub and asked to give a breath test.
he tried to blow into the testing device but couldnt blow for long enough due to the fact he only has one lung. he tried to explain this to the gaurd and that he didnt drink but because the gaurd could smell beer from him he didnt believe him and arrested him he even showed the gaurd the scar on his chest but to no avail. in the station he was asked to blow into the testing device that they can use in court and again he tried but failed to provide a sample because of the one lung thing.
he offered the gaurds the option of taking blood or urine for a test but the gaurds refused both them and told him if he didnt provide a breath sample he would be charged for refusing.
in the end he spent a night in the cells and was later brought to court for refusing to give a sample.
it cost him about 800 for a solicitor and he also had to pay for a consultant doctor to be a witness in court to vouch to the fact that it would be impossible for him to have provided a sample in the way that the gaurds wanted.
he was found not guilty but never recieved any appology or anything from the gaurds.

The law is an ass and those involved in it do not seem attached to the real world ,good example KLIT,and the others about drink driving, had a few unpleasent run ins with the law, despite being a tee totaler and do not drink non alcoholic beer I have been breathalised several times, one ban garda thought that the breath test was faulty and I had to accompany her to the station to give a sample,I had been driving for over 3 hours at the time, the sargent who knew me had a laugh over it untill I explained that this was the third time with her, plus anytime she sees my car she checks the tyres and tax etc,not too bad if you were on the road but parked?, shes one jumped up little upstart that should feck off back to Cork and stay there.

All of theses are classic examples of civil servants just!"doing their jobs", without realising that doing their job does not necessarily means doing the right thing.
Any war criminal at their trial claim they were just doing their job, and guess what,

    they all hanged.

In theses times ,any employer ask his employee to give 110% or more, apply logic, use experience and common sens in order to do the right thing.
Just doing your job doesn't apply anymore except for the good people of the administration that are meant to work for us, not against us.
