Can I relate my experience of the system witnessed at first hand this week. Woman in court found at Xmas in her car parked dangerously, staggers out of car, blood shot eyes and stinkin of drink. Arrested and sample traken and found to be 170mgs, miles over the limit. Gets off on a technicality cos the doc was called too late to check her. Case dismissed and she gets legal aid as she is a single mother. I'm up for a driving offence, found not guilty as the cop was making stuff up as he went along in the witness box. Costs me €400 for a solicitor, all day in court, hotel costs and travel costs and no compensation. Total costs approx €1000 and I am innocent!! Well fuck me gently I thought.
