I wish to make clear, that drawing conclusions regarding submissivity and escorting is out of order. I've been thinking about this topic a lot and the only conclusion that can be made is, that every case is different and has to be considered individually.
But, I know for sure that there are submissive people who would never do escorting and I also for sure know, that the VAST majority of escorts is NOT sexually submissive.

I have read the blog and read this thread.. there was many things throughout this thread I wanted to quote.. I don't think any Escort has slagged it off and no one has said that their work was rosy. We're all allowed an opinion and it might be looking at it from different vantage points, as UK Heather has said, depending on how long you have been working and likely where you work in the main, you are bound to see things in a different light.

I think the only criticism that has been made at all is about a lack of balance and perhaps a possibilty where it seems she is generalising, but who in this world is perfect? Could I have written better and without bias? No I very much doubt it. She has my respect, but you don't have to agree with everything someone says to respect them.

In fairness, I don't think any of the clients posting on this thread believe escorting is all rosey in the garden, we are as aware as we can be of the dangers, the sublimation to others and the social opprobrium that goes with the job, we respect escorts for taking those risks, and yes for putting up with us. That having been said if escorting is as DCG paints it and is as abusive as she says it is then why are so many independents still doing it. There is a balance, and as Nina has said it takes a strong personality to become an escort and I believe that all the escorts who have commented on this thread are strong personalities.

I respect DCG for her openess and her bravery in blogging about her perceptions and experiences, but that does not mean I am not in a position to offer an opinion, an opinion that agrees somewhat and disagrees somewhat with what she has to say. Take her blog on one night stands versus escorting, she generalises that outside of escorting sex is consential and mutually sought, she obviously isn't aware of the many marriages where that is not the case, and the sex in those cases is as abusive as in the sex industry, that does not make it right but to use that genearlisation to demonise all clients and escorting as a job is basing it on a false premise.

As I have already said, I believe DCG has said she entered escorting having been a victim of abuse, then it is natural that she will regard escorting as abusive too, so her position is a natural follow on. Does this mean that escorting isn't abusive, of course not, but it means that generalisations are not a good basis to have a discussion.

I wholeheartedly agree with Donegal angel on the review system and I have asked before on this site to have it changed as it serves no useful purpose for escorts.

Some ladies do paint a rosy picture Kate. They do it to entice and attract clients, to make them believe that they love this job and are unaffected by any of the negative aspects.. The happy hooker. I know that to be the answer Heather, and thank you for your honesty. So many relationships in life revolve around money and as such are abusive, how many of us (non escorts) have been bullied, abused by an employer but because of the money we just take it, I guess that all jobs are similar from that point of view.
