Yes. And who is it fighting for YOUR rights? You the client. It should be a joint effort! Of course Escorts would contribute too but I was wondering if clients are concerned enough to do the same.

All debate is welcome though. If you don't feel that you have any sort of responsibility to protect your rights then that's fair enough. Your lookout.

Agree 110% Alex. After all, we're all in this together so to speak.

My rights? Ok, so if the law changes, and I break the law, what has that to do with my rights?

I do think sex workers need some "voice". I wouldnt say a union is a good idea, but some sort of organisation would be a very good idea.

You have the RIGHT to spend time with who you want and what goes on between consenting adults is up to them. You shouldn't be criminalised for spending time with ladies, you have the RIGHT to avail of our services.

That RIGHT! The right to purchase someone's time and companionship.

We are trying to stop the law being passed that would criminalise YOU the client. So stop it before it affects anybody. Before it turns innocent people into criminals

I think there is a difference between a union and a lobby group as has already been pointed out. In broad strokes a Union will fight for the collective rights of its members, working conditions etc but lobbying is secondary. In strict terms it would be impossible for clients to be members of the union but could support a lobby group.

The difficulty remains that to get any traction in the mainstreams of society and be heard by the legislators and chattering classes it needs credible individuals to step up to the plate, that in itself is a huge ask. Any girl that goes public will do so with anonymity but that will only go so far, the media and public will be suspicious of only anonymous interviewees etc. The ideal candidate to go public and I am not suggesting any girl does, but if there was someone who was still nominally working but was considering moving on who was prepared to go public and front the campaign. That person would need to be trained in media performance etc and able to talk articulately, I am sure there are clients in this forum who have expertise that could be used in training etc. Opening doors to the media and the public is not a difficult thing to do as most broadcast organization would be dying to have a non anonymous representative on their stations.

The other option is a media advertising campaign television radio newspapers and internet funded by this "union" that Alex is referring to, there could be a very good ad made for both television and radio etc but it would be costly and buying airtime would be hugely expensive. Such an ad campaign would lead to the necessity to have a spokesperson who wasn't afraid to go public as that is where the campaign would ultimately go.

It may be getting close to the time boys and girls where we are asked to put up or shut up, however I would suggest now is not the optimal time as it will be seen as a reaction to the Primetime programme, a more appropriate time for any media campaign would be when the gov announces the consultation around any changes in the law.

    Food for thought my friends.

I guess I'd like to help out in some way.

If for no other reason I would really like that when such a fallacious radio advert (voice over by the sanctimonious Tom Dunne for TOTRL) that SOMETHING could be said against this propaganda.

Alex I don't know exactly what sort of organisation could be convened but certainly some sort of advocacy group for escorts is a grand idea.

If a formal means of donation is put in place I would like to show some sort of support
    Bada Bing!!!
