Ok normally I make first contact with a lady by PM. Broke my own rule this morning and made a couple of phone calls. Unfortunately I didn't get through to any of the ladies. I didn't leave any messages and the "window of opportunity" passed so to speak.

Move on, forget about it until next time. I normally plan in advance anyway - I much prefer this.

A few minutes ago I received a text message from a number I didn't recognise.
When I checked I was surprised / shocked / horrified to find out that the text was from one of the ladies that I'd tried to contact earlier.

Now I know that the old hands here will say use a punting phone / sim ya ya but I don't and I'm sure that there are many like me that should but.......

To put it into context the text arrived about 3 1/2 hours after my call. It wasn't explicit but would still require explaining if seen by the wrong person (it wasn't). Also the lady in question is a well respected and regular poster. I think that this is very unprofessional and I'm surprised at this lady, whom I've never actually met but would love to.

So boys and especially girls........is this acceptable?

IMHO - no, a text 5-10 min later is fine but 3 1/2 hours later

btw I have come across a lady who has a voicemail message on her phone saying "the office is unattended etc" which I think is very clever should your missus find the number on your phone and decide to ring it.

Yikes! That could have gotten awkward for you.

It's never happened to me, thankfully. If it did, I'd probably be a little mad too. There is a lot to be said for having a spare SIM. I don't have one myself, but I reckon it's well past time I got one. You should probably do the same too, Bacman.

The voicemail lady is smart. Good idea whoever you are.

Kinda depends what the text said. If it said "I missed your call, you were looking for sex right?" then that's a no no. But if if said "sorry I missed your call" then that's ok.

Having said that I prefer the single ring.

I never ring or text after few hours anybody...maybe but very rarely after few mins...-and this happened if i know the guy and is ok to txt or ring but as i said very rarely ...
Some of the punters are married,family and kids or GF ..is not nice to pop in with a txt or ph call like that ...i heard many stories lately ... me personaly i never had problems...i better send Pm or mail imo...

I can see how this could be awkward, but in fairness to the lady in question how does she know if you have a punting phone or not, and 3 and half hours, could be the duration of a previous client, so I think under the circumstances yes it is acceptable. Like yourself I don't have a punting phone but then I don't expect to get explicit messages.

No text wasn't explicit but then I'm not a big texter, in fact I rarely text prefer to ring someone, so it's kinda rare for me to get a text from anyone. Any before the wiseguys start I do have friends, it's just that I suppose I'm from a generation that speaks to each other - old fart yes

I don't really think that gents would have a problem with you not returning calls. I understand that when I ring and don't get an answer the lady is busy and I respect that. I certainly wouldn't want a lady answering her phone while she was with me.....in the throes of passion and all that.

Although a few have picked up the phone and started playing games - I'm obviously not as good in reality as I am in my imagination
