I am not sure exactly why Alec is banned, but those of you who read my contribution on the now deleted thread will see that I vowed to defend his right of free speech, and I am afraid that is being eroded yet again. I am largely against banning posters in general as it runs counter to the function of a forum, but thats only my opinion. I know Alec could rub people up the wrong way, and very often set out to, indeed even once he managed it with me, but is that really a reason for banning him. If it is so then lets see consistency and close down the forum altogether. Have we not all rubbed somebody up the wrong way at some stage.

Only my thoughts. Alec I know you are reading this in some other form, I just wanted to say I object to your banning and although I would hate to live with you or even share a drink with you but we did manage to have some sort of connection. You will be missed.

I don't know why was he banned, but I am sorry to see him gone.
Such a long standing member who together with a few others (mostly all gone too) have made this forum in the past a joy to read. Pitty.

I still don't know why he was banned. Was some stuff deleted or what ? Never liked the guy myself but it takes all kinds to make a world. Looks like a war of attrition here as the good posters get banned one by one. Why not six or twelve month bans?

Alec wanted to rub people up the wrong way. The entire profile was set up to rub people up the wrong way. But never maliciously, always with humour and often with a damn sight more intelligence than those who so easily fell for it. Indeed, it is a shame.

I don't see why he was banned. Alot of what he said was true and a refreshing change from the PC type of delivery.

It was basicly read, laugh, ignore.
Still I'm sure he's around.
