    Default Is Obama a dissapointement

Has Obama's presidency been a huge dissapointment?
3 years have gone by and is the US in a much worse place now than when he was elected?
He was elected on a huge wave of good will sentiment and emotion but as a dispassionate
outside observer u really would have to say he has failed miserably to deliver on the hype
that surrounded him. Most of his policys have either not been realised or side tracked.
He has in my eyes been a big letdown, he hasnt turned out to be the man of substance i thought
he was, plenty of sound bites and spin but im afraid no real cutting edge.
He could well struggle for a second term, he picked alot of the young vote and the floating vote last time
but they arent as enamoured with him anymore.
I think if he wins another term it will be more due to the fact the republicans are having trouble finding a
real credible canidate aswell. Romney is probably the fore runner still and i think he is failing to connect with the
people, his vast wealth and aloofness are making it hard for the ordinary man to connect with him
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed
    but

But the problems he has left behind are huge and the US is in a much more precarious state financially than when he took office.
No President going forward for a second term has lost so much popularity so quickly. His biggest iniative the stimilus has

    Interesting................

Which bits of all of those things has he actually started and finished????????????????????

Unfortunately... he is just another idealist........

Once he got in to power, he realised that it did not add up.......

That is the difference between democrats and republicans.... We all want to do the right thing.... but the democrats cant count!!!!!!!!!!

Obama has been subject to the most intractable, obstructive and mean spirited opposition, it's a miracle he achieved anything at all. American politics is more divided than I ever remember. The opposition seems intent on wrecking the economy on purely partisan grounds. The US recession ended in June 2009 and unemployment is falling. Did Obama deliver on every promise? Did Bush? Did Reagan? Will the Republicans if they get in? Obama got the richest country in the world to provide the health care all the other first world countries have. That alone means he succeeded.

There are so many small minded people in America against Obama they would cut their nose to spite their face. I have a few relatives who would be republican and they would have you believe Obama is the devil incarnate! If he handed them a million dollers they would refuse it for spite.

obama your a cool dude lad lol anyway i have no time for politics as i just dont understand them big words you wud think they wud dumb down those big words for the ordinary folks lol

he is cool tho and shud stay president for a while cause he is young and has quite a few debates left in him lol altho i dont think much people would like to be president as it is a huge responibilty and you would not be able to have any social life you would have to be sourrended by body gaurds each time so is it worth all the money he is getting cause everyday the presidents life would be in danger!!

    all hail obama lol

It was always going to be difficult for Obama as the hype was unsustainable, I remember saying to people before his election he will struggle to achieve much against huge expectations and his popularity will plummet. I don't believe he has been bad for the US, it is beginning to turn around and he has tried. I only know a Republican in the White House now would lead to attacks on Iran and a roll out of aggressive foreign policy designed to do nothing but divert attention from domestic problems, shore up the military budget and make billions for the Dick Cheneys of this world. Re-elect Obama as far as I am concerned.

The problems, who the country have beeing facing is not only from 3 or 4,5 years ago,is much older then dat...how do you think is possible to find a solution in only 4 years for something than has beeing happening for the last 20 yr or so?The point is:The things explode with Obama;he is trying to fix things that come from Clinton, let's say or more, for a big country like US,is needed much more than one election to fix things up!!

I campaigned for Obama in the last election & inmo he has achieved much of what was possible but I'd be the first to concede there's still plenty to be done!
His State of the Union speech last night was damn good- he's starting finally to show his talons.

Yes & No: the huge surplus that Bush inherited from Clinton was squandered & no administration was going to clean-up things overnight ( this sounds remarkably like the Irish situation...).
Here on the ground- US employment is on the rise, the housing bubble fiasco has broadly stabilized & most credible Economists agree that without the Stimulus ( which worked- but was never going to create miracles), the US would be in a much worse position- if McCain/Palin had been steering the ship they'd never have gotten the mandate to set up the Stimulus & you don't need to be Paul Krugman to see that this country would now be in a far bigger mess in that scenario!

I agree with your broader sentiments but he only partially got the Healthcare issue sorted out as he had to fudge key elements to get the legislation passed- but it's a decent & pragmatic start.

It's nine months til the election & a week is a long time in Politics..but if the Republican Presidential candidates keep fucking each other in the ass, it will only help Obama's re-election chances. In reality it'll be Romney or Gingrich, until last week I would have placed a wager on the former but it's not so clear now: will the GOP pick a flip-flopping Vulture Capitalist Mormon or a thrice married disgraced former House Speaker who got paid $M by Fannie/Freddie? (Not making any moral value statements- just observing the irony for the party of 'moral majority'.)

Be very clear about the probable impact on the Irish economy if whatever Republican wins in November:
The overseas tax structures utilized by US Corporations will come under intense scrutiny & Irish employment ( think Google/Microsoft/Pfizer etc etc) will take a hit... the GOP may be the 'party of big business', but only when that business is within the borders of the Land o' the Free!
