Default What do you call your partner, wife, husband ....

For those in a relationship what do you call your partner, wife or husband? I just hate when you hear people use the term "Other half", "better half", "significant other"

ffs, since when did someone become half a person.
Thank you all the ladies I had pleasure of meeting. Forever grateful for the memories

A good question rodders, but in fact it may well come from the Irish language...I would give you an example of what i mean but the language police would delete my legitimate use of irish, so I will do my best to explain in our second language, LOL. In irish people do not have two feet they have feet and when someone is referring to a foot it is known as half foot, there is a phrase he has half a foot in the grave, literal translation, what it actually means is that he has one foot in the grave.

I thought it also had currency in the UK ( although if DB is linguistically accurate it could also have come in UK Englsh from Scots Gaelic),
    Haven't heard it used State-side.

I usually call the mot... to get me another beer from the fridge...
