Is it worse to punt when you are single or married?

Don't ask me why, but it seems to me that guys that punt when they are single seem to feel more embarrased about it than the ones that are married. You get the 'I could pull if I wanted to, I just don't want the hassle' conversation and they don't seem to be able to just enjoy themselves without explaining.

Guys, have any of you punted in both situations and which made you feel worse or did it not bother you either way? Does it feel more acceptable to be doing it due to 'fill a gap' in your marriage than be single and supposedly able to sow your wild oats when ever you want to yet still seeing an Escort?
