    Default No Garda Checkpoints?

Was having a nice relaxing shower thinking about all sorts of things and a thought entered me head, where have the Garda checkpoints been, not 1 was I stopped at over Xmas and I can't recall the last time I even saw one either, what's going on, have we all of a sudden became law abiding drivers and there's no need for them or is it the face of cutbacks.
No Gardai walking the beat and now no visibility on the roads, how the hell are you supposed to deter no tax/insurance/drink driving if people see they can get away with it for months on end..

I saw a few. Stopped in Chapelizod, and twice on the Quays in Dublin. And I wasn't out much.

But drink and insurance, sure stop and check.
    But tax, it's ridiculous.

I was offered a 2000 Vw Beetle today with 28000 miles for €2000 to replace my wreck.

I turned it down because the tax is nearly €700.
    That's just nuts, I couldn't justify that

returning home there were 2 checkpoints, but was waved on at both.

Didn't see one speed check or random drink driving check all December in Dublin. In previous years saw them at least 4 or 5 times including on the way into work in the morning. Must be cut backs
Thank you all the ladies I had pleasure of meeting. Forever grateful for the memories

Lots of constraints on overtime and about 300 leaving on early retirement in February. Also a new shift system coming in to be seen to be doing something for the Croke Park Agreement. All makes for low morale among the Garda ranks(all promotions stopped and no recruitment as well).
