But the kids are deserving everything these days..and you're there so everything it's gonna be terrific

Merry Christmas and thank you everyone for your replies,pm's,phcalls and SMS.. I know personally less then a half of you,and that's making me think that this world is not as evil as it seems

    2. Moms & Dads (granny & granddad)... Kids again... everything is for the kids. As soon as the kids get to the end of the tree and open their presents, and as soon as they are fed with turkey and ham, now its mom and dads turn... feckin brill...

    3. People in-between being a kid and a Mom & Dad... These people have to create a reason to enjoy Christmas. Up to now Christmas was offered to them on a plate. Wake up in the morning and all is done and offered to you. Now it’s different. You have to work at Christmas yourself. You have to find friends in a similar situation and organise events and little niceties that put the smile back on your faces.

Ok Shirls… I’ll do a deal with ya… I am No.2 … I will trade you the No.2 for your No.3. here’s the deal…..You come to my house, get up at feckin DAWN and pretend you are amazed at what Santa managed to get down the chimney. Open up boxes and read instructions at how to insert batteries. Stop the fighting as one child is envious of the others present. Clean up all the torn wrapping paper that is thrown all over the house, in every room. Just as you think its time for a nice cup of tea, jump up to respond to a panicking wife that cannot fit the turkey into the oven. Offer to prepare all the veg for her cos she is now seriously stressed out and cant take anymore. Serve and feed the kids with turkey and ham. Clean off the disgustingly opulent table and wash a dozen pots and just as you think its time for a nice cup off tea… forget it the, the mother in law is arriving in 5….

I will give you all this, if you promise to contact your friends and let them know that I am filling in for you…

What ya think? You certainly wont have time to be blue….

    Shirley

Many people find Christmas a tough time - as others have suggested try to spend time with some friends and don't dwell on things too much.

I dont really like Christmas at all so I am used to being a bit depressed this time of the year. To make things worse, I have someone managed to catch a cold/ bug which had laid me low for the last few days which means that my plans to visit a certain lady will have to be shelved till I get rid of the bug:-(

I remember when I was a child I couldn't wait to look down the Christmas tree in the morning, then when I was a teenager I was eager to "escape" from the school as the holiday was coming...the first snow was always giving me "life"... This year is weird,I don't feel it's coming,I feel down, like I am waiting the end of the earth or so...
Then I see on tv so many "cry for help" from people they don't even have water to drink, and then are coming up those rich people showing their houses with cinema at the ground floor ...

I feel sorry for this thread as I see all of you excited about the christmas, but I had to share my mood..

    And I feel soooo down..

Thanks for sharing with everybody Shirley, this is what real Chrismas spirit is. I will be spending Chrismas day alone, kinda as I will be with my two dogs as I dont want to be with my family. This is my choice and I feel more comfortable with it. Its not the first time alone but I have met everybody in the past week and exchanged gifts. Happiness is always in the now, this is what I truly believe and look at the positives always even if you am sometimes gloomy. Being thankful for good health, good sense of humor, and also this country is ok, nice people and beautiful countryside, Whatever happens in the future is in the lap of the Gods, If you have positives, make the most of them and I wish you a very Happy and Peaceful Chrismas. xo

Well uuummmm....the depths of winter makes me feel a bit low anyway and I definitely get a bit reflective at Christmas, if I am being honest I sometimes feel like the large amount of friends and family I have who are all married with kids can kinda make me feel a bit left out but thats not the full picture at all, the day and the surrounding days always work out really well.

You just have to relax into it all a bit, don't be getting too down or hard on yourself just because you are on your own a bit (its not a crime!!)

Let it be an end to the year and a chance to look ahead to the next. Understand that you are probably doing the best you can with whatever hand you've been dealt. Don't be too hard on yourselves. You'll notice that some of the bad feeling will evaporate a bit.
    Bada Bing!!!

Hi Shirley i know the feeling as i hate Christmas myself, more so this year as i have a lot of family problems lately. Having said that Christmas day and new year's day fall's on Sunday so it will be just like two weekend's. I have done Santa for a special needs school and tomorrow i am doing it for our local play school and my beard is real and nearly white. So if any of ye lonely girls ( CORK ) need the company of a lonely santa on Christmas night let me know and i am not looking for a freebie. Life is not all about sex as we need each other's friendship as well. P.S I can dress up as Santa in ye're appartmant if ye like just for the fun of it. John xxx

Yes. And not going to get any better from the usual Christmas remedy of good fellowship - best mates are mostly now abroad, kid brother's recently emigrated to Australia

I love Christmas but over the last three years I have lost people very close to me and Christmas has been dreadful. Its a very happy time but can also be an unbelieveably lonely and sad time. This year I am looking forward to it but can utterly share your sentiments. Hope it goes well for you and for anyone here on their own.
    Merry Christmas .... xx
