    Default Happy Christmas!

    T'was The Month Before Christmas
    When all through our land,
    Not a Christian was praying
    Nor taking a stand.

See the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
    December 25th is just a ' Holiday.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
    Retailers promoted Twilight and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Target was hanging their trees upside down
At Lowes the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

    Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS , not Happy Holiday!
Please, all Christians join together and wish everyone you meet during
    the holidays a MERRY CHRISTMAS

And a very Merry Christmas to you too EG- do you have a US connection?
    BTW- my local Target is full of crap with the word 'Christmas' emblazoned all over it;
the PC saying may be 'The Holidays' but in some respects the religious aspect of this fictional tale
is much bigger here in the Land o' the Free than in IRL- just saying!

No, I have no US connection. It's actually a subtle rant at PC-ness. I got it from a Christian website, hence the religious angle, and is not necessarily my personal view.

Always good to see a Punter pull the Christian card haha
It took me a while to wrap my head around the "Happy Holidays" thing when I arrived here but to be fair I now endorse it- here where I live in the Northeastern US, a big chunk of my neighbors have no connection to Christianity- appreciate in IRL it's a different kettle of fish- but as you used a US piece it may be fair to explain some of the refs:
Target- sort of like Dunnes Stores
Lowes- sort of like Woodies etc
Kwanzaa is an African American celebration
The folks mentioned are Pols/News Broadcasters, some of whom wouldn't be household names on that side of Atlantic e.g. Dan Rather, Tom Daschle etc.
If I know somebody's background I'm happy to say 'Happy Christmas'..but if I don't I hedge my bets..it's only polite- otherwise we'd all have to start saying " Happy Hannukah" on Dec 21st and "Happy Kwanzaa" on St.Stephens/Boxing Day, not to mention "Happy Festivus" to every piss artist we encounter
Hope I'm not coming across as the plastic paddy yank & I respect where your observations- but It may be better to pick an example from a country where there isn't huge diversity & yet for all it's supposed separation of church & state Christianity is still ramming it's head into politics every damn day , cheers!
