    John Lennon was murdered on this day, 31 years ago. I remember it like yesterday. Special bulletin was read by a presenter on television (they didn't have breaking news then) and the world was in shock.

    He believed in using music to promote compassion, love and peace. That day, he autographed a copy of the album, Double Fantasy, for the very man who would shoot him in the back a few hours later.

    The murderer, Mark Chapman, remains in prison and six applications for release have been denied.

    RIP, John Lennon.

    I was only 5, I don't remember it all.

    While without doubt he had talent it must be said he was quite a weird individual
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed

    Remember it well even though I was only 11, was a big Beatles and Lennon fan at the time.
    Very sad day- it was one of those news stories that stops the world for a while.
    Always wondered what great music did we miss

    I have no idea who is John Lennon but at least they found the culprit,if it makes you feel better
