    Default What Recession ?

I'm not looking for long winded stories or explanations here, more a show of hands. Is there anyone on these here boards who the recession hasn't touched yet ?

Just to add that the topic of recession has come up a few times and I remember some saying they had escaped relatively unscathed so far. I wonder how many are still significantly untouched by it at this stage.

Has me, more week to week now as regards work coming in rather than knowing i have 3/4 months work already in the pipeline.
Worst problem at the moment, a sign of a recession, is getting people to pay without aggrevation

    define touched?

personally my life has not changed a bit...i still have the same income more or less....infact with intrest rate drops i am probably slightly more comfortable... not even close to rich incase you take that up wrong....lol
but i do know a lot of people that are in trouble with mortages etc.... including close family but i am lucky enough to be able to help my family....as they have helped me in the past.

that was long winded ...my bad...

At the moment, not too badly, bit down on wages but no massive debts.
Hopefully work will start to pick up or I won't be there much longer.

You've personally been affected. Your way of life has changed, your sense of security has changed. You used to be able to afford things that you no longer can.

I'm busier than ever, and no, I'm not in an industry to do with economics or debt collection.

It took a while, but I am being badly affected by the recession now, in the same way Mellors described, getting people to pay for services rendered. At least I have my health.

I find my personal circumstances have got better. My workload has increased (as has all my colleagues) so much so that in my department alone, 9 new people have been hired in the last 12 or so odd weeks and we're still under the kosh. Those 9 people havent come cheap either as the wages in my line of work have not been affected by the recession. In fact, i, along with the rest of the company have been paid significant wage increases that were backdated to last january. I believe its pure pot luck whether the profession you work in is recession proof or not. Some people have been decimated, some relatively unscathed amd some have seen their lives improve
