    Oh, that.

    Yeah, they have a special foam that they can spray all over the runway now. Its ignition temperature is a few hundred degrees or something and it's sticky, so it hugely lessens the friction between metal and tarmac on touchdown. Wheels-up landings are still tense, but they're not the five-alarm everyone's-going-to-die emergency they used to be.

    Makes me wonder, would you take a chance flying with airlines, who's fleet are old? I wouldn't!!

    afaik, LOT's fleet isn't particularly old, I have a buddy who's a mechanic at Newark Airport!!
    I know I'm spending too much time on EI when I get this type of news here haha
    There's a bunch of Poles I'm friendly with who travel this specific route semi-frequently, just shot them all a message, three have already got back to me & are all safe TG!

    I know an airline which uses planes over 18 years old, everyday, for routes over 10,000km. No way I would travel with them. Glad to hear your Polish friends are ok.
