Maybe one day I'll give it a go, see what it's like. Was never really that attracted to bikes but now I'm curious about whether it would make you a better car driver.

I not only ride bikes but also raced them.
Riding a bike sharpens up your road awareness you become far more observant and are always thinking 2 steps ahead of car Drivers.

It's not bikes that are dangerous but other road users.

2 steps ahead. .........while overtaking on the inside, dodging in and out
of lanes without indicating, moving at far in excess of the speed limit. Give me a break.

Don't forget about pulling wheelies , knocking car wing mirrors and not paying road tax or insurance.

Give it a go you might like it one thing I have learned over the years it does quicken you reflexes and you read the road that bit better .

I don't know anything about the other stuff, but pulling wheelies when space/safety allows, is quite good to watch.

There are good motorcylists, as there are good car drivers, though you don't seem to see it that way.

Interesting topic as i ride a motorbike. Health and safety is up to myself, I have a current license,also tax and insurance. No matter what people drive there are good,bad, and careless drivers men and women included. I don't know whey we have to pay road tax especially for motorbikes with most of the secondary roads are hardly fit to drive a tractor on not to mind a bike. When machines cut the hedges or contractors spread slurry they never clean up and you come round a bend and you go waltzing matilda and the first thing they say is he was going too fast.

Biking is brilliant - as someone said earlier if you want to clear your mind there really is nothing like it.

Have done several advanced motorcycle courses and it really does sharpen you anticipation and skill (both on a bike and car). Am a way safer rider and driver as a result.

Problem with drivers vs bikers is that drivers do not understand how bikers need to position themselves on the road and tend to resent bikers fir their ability to cut through traffic.

Comments re nutter bikers are off the Mark - every person that rides a bike knows the dangers and rides defensively. Bikers account for a disproportionate amount of traffic accidents but cause fuck all of them ...
