I know it is simple to say, but what goes on between consenting adults behind closed doors is nobody's business, not even the gardai. You are not committing a crime. You might get stopped and they might threaten to go to your loved ones, but that is about the only sanction they have.

I think you better get on the case now Johnny, because all this may become illegal very soon!! There is a strong political lobby to criminalize clients.

As it stands there is no law against escorting or seeking the services of an escort . Two caveats to that - street prostitution is illegal, and with indoor escorting - a brothel is illegal. Brothels are classified as any place where two or more girls are working as escorts. (A real pain this law, and it's enforced variably across the country). Not as bad in Dublin - but the cops seem to be more active in different parts of the country. They seem to have a particualr bee i n their bonnet in Limerick.

Thankfully I've never had any issues to date with the boys in blue, but as mentioned above, I fear that may change in the future.

It might sound like a cocky answer but it is fact. The problem is that in this society we live in we are afraid of the "law enforcers" and quiver when they ask us a question. At the end of the day we have rights and a right to privacy is one of them. If some jumped up country boy wants to take it out on me or anyone else when we have nothing illegal, then bring it on. Garda complaints commission here I come. Remember one thing, they are paid to serve us, not for us to be afraid of them and answer any and all questions they ask.
