I think no government on Earth should be allowed to say what we put into our bodies. Then again, I object to paying taxes to suport junkies on methadone or smokers going through lung cancer chemo.

Definitely not. It has long term consequences. Regular users have an increased risk of developing serious mental health problems.
Obviously tobacco and alcohol have major problems too.
There is no way that they would be legalised today.
I can see the medical argument for legalising, and as I am a bleeding heart liberal I have no issue with it being legal. I would rather it was legal and safely sold than illegal and making profits for drug dealers and of questionable quality. I have never tried it and don't intend to, but then again I don't talk alcohol either!!!
