But wont it be taken more seriously if there is a through drive to letting only independent escorts advertise...i would think that would be the first logical step to changing peoples perception of the industry...

that terribly vague term requires definition. drugs are trafficked (moved
around the globe , below detection) when teachers, nurses and carpenters from
here go abroad to economies more favourable for their given trade, trafficked?
what if an agency assisted them with travel and accomodation, as does happen, trafficked?

i have seen the media create a mountain from a molehill before (headshop saga).
it scares me, what can happen to the truth.

lol...but the Magdalene Sisters are a small minority..lol i guess im referring to widespread thought among the population as a whole..not everyone is a magdelen sister or with Ruhama etc..and it isnt naivety catching Lucy if independent ladies have to advertise alongside trafficked ladies then ye are all going to be tarred with the one brush

If you are referring to E-I, I think you over-estimate E-I's influence if you think E-I can direct policy here! Regards only letting "true independents" advertise on E-I, you can argue the pros and cons of this until the cows come home, but the bottom line is we are not in a position to judge if someone is a "true independent" or not anyway, so it's not an option.

I think that's rather the point. This thread was supposed to provide food for thought. We have to start somewhere, and in this case its in the Huffington Post.

TOBL is formed of a group of escorts. EI helped to initiate the project, they took it forward, and its actually very unfair to those ladies for people on these forums to keep perpetrating a myth.

I dont see a balanced view in this article , sorry . To me it seems more a case of
If we dont hear about it it doesnt exist ,
if we dont see it , it doesnt exist ,
so we better dont talk about it !

Trafficking ESPACIALLY in US is a major problem , and I belive that this article is downplaying the problem in typical US manor ...

No need to climb up the trees , just my personal opinon , until proven wrong !

I keep my own council on these issues. I do believe that economic migration should be considered a greater cause, but then again I have worked in the Industry

I've always felt that if you kept to the verifiable statistics and left out the sensationalism that is more and more prevalent in the media you would get a truer picture. I'm not saying it doesn't go on, but there are folks out there who think every escort is trafficked when this is blatantly not the case.

Thanks for the articles. They make interesting (and more importantly, balanced) reading.
