The golden age for punters

Was checking some of the EI stats on the website today, interesting stuff in relation to the price of punt.

The peak average price according to the records for a punt for one hour in 2008 was €255, with a half hour visit to wonderland €150 in the same year. Fast forward three years and the price has decreased, way above any adjustments to the standard CPI.

In 2011 (YTD) the average of a one hour visit to an escort is €203, with a half hour visit at the bargain rate of €101!

Now I know there have been previous postings about the cost of these luxuries in Ireland vs other locations in Europe, but in my experience with North American and UK business trips, these are some very competitive prices. On top of that I personally believe the quality and choice here in Dublin is outstanding.

So the next time we contemplate what the prices are and how the impact of future legislation may affect our little indulgences, perhaps best to know that now is the best time in the past 5 years to get "value" (benefits - costs = value) and in my opinion at the moment the benefits far outway the costs, presenting an excellent value proposition.

Oh yeah, one other titbit (pun intended) of information, the price in the past three years in the Republic has decreased 21% and 33%, respective to hour/half hour calls, while our fellow punters in the North have only seen the prices decrease 19% and 24% respectively. Ireland is becoming more competitive in the market and one day soon, we may even see real growth in the domestic economy.

Excellent post Tim. Now if only Minister Noonan would take note - we could be out of this recession in no time! All the government needs to do is legalise escorting. And we wouldn't have to worry about bank bailouts and IMF loans etc...

And if Mr. Fussy comes back from his sabbatical - we could have a second Celtic tiger era again!!!!

While escorting is legal (I know you knew that morph,just a little typo ) if it was a profession as in paying tax etc...
Then we would be laughing.oh yea and Mr.fussy's return of course

i think if the escorts were paying tax the prices would have to go up past the 2008 rates when you take vat prsi and income tax into account and dont forget the escorts would still want to end up with the same amount for their bank account i think it would end up costing a lot more.
