Totally agree with itstimenow - How are ya in ireland more like a 'Hello' or just a simple greeting. It's not really a 'How are u, i really want to know ur current feelings?' when people are more serious and genuinely want to know how u are or how ur day has been, they will specify by saying just that. 'Any craic with ya?' 'hows ur day been?' but when u bump into some1 and say 'hi hows things??' its just a greeting
thats how i see it anyway
'Not to bad' is usually my response or 'grand, u?'
when some1 says how are you to me i say...... how she cutting and walk on or say sup lad
Talking with friends and being really inerested in their reply, is very different to passing someone you just know in the street.
but I must admit the Irish do tend to be a bit evasive when expressing anything personal (outside of the anonymity of an internet forum !!) . Generalisation I know.
Come in she said "I'll give you shelter from the storm "
actually lets take mer 4 instance, several times he goes into the chat room and within a matter of minutes he will say he is bored and the amount of people who tell him to stop sayin that is quite alot. a few of da ladies even got pissed off with him over sayin it, now,,ok mer may have been jokin which i doubt but my point is no one really cared wat was wrong, they jus didnt wanna know
